Update to The Pattern

I really need to get back to watching "Fringe" at some point.

10/9 10/13 10/15 10/17 10/18 10/20 10/22 10/25 10/27
1-1 1-1 3-4 2-1 1-2 1-1 2-0 3-2 2-1
  • Games vs. VAN: 2 GP, 1-1-0, +6/-6, 6.00 GPG, no games with fewer than five total goals.
  • All other games: 7 GP, 3-1-3, +10/-7, 2.43 GPG, no games with more than three total goals.

Khabibulin for Vezina.

The Oilers Diaspora: Spring 2011 Edition

Yes, it's late. Just like everything else. Shut up.

Okay, so this list was supposed to be published after the trade deadline, but that didn’t work out so good. Thus the use of boilerplate text on both posts. Anyway, you know the drill: anyone who was Oilers property at some point who played a game in the NHL is on the list with their post-trade deadline team. We’ve already had a couple of deals since the Finals, which will be reflected the next time I post this (probably after the first month of the season). This will also be the last list to use the old Thrashers logo, with that team becoming the Winnipeg Jets II earlier this month.

The companion list of ex-Habs can be found here.

The Oilers Diaspora: Fall 2010

Where have you gone, Marty Reasoner? A nation turns its lonely eyes to you. Woo woo woo.

It’s back! The ex-Oilers and ex-Habs trackers are here again for 2010, covering all the free-agency moves and minor-league goaltending you can handle. Note that I’m only adding people who made their respective NHL rosters, though I’m keeping the rest in hand in case they get called up later in the year. Here we have the listing (complete so far as I can determine) of all the ex-Oilers in the NHL as of the end of October 2010, where they are now, and what the details of their stay(s) with the franchise entailed. Lots of turnover this summer (and thank God for some of those moves), and two retirements of note: Georges Laraque and Kirk Maltby. I deliberately waited until the end of the month so we’d see a few borderline cases (Dany Syvret, Ryan Potulny) get call-ups, though not all of the ones I anticipated (hello, Marc Pouliot) made the cut. Also, this only counts actual NHL appearances: Dany Sabourin wearing a ball cap on the end of the bench for a couple of games won’t cut it.

The companion list of ex-Habs can be found here.

Oilers Fire Some Guys

Accountability, motherfuckers!

I’m glad the Oilers fired two guys who schlepped bags and the one guy Souray said had nothing to do with his injuries or guys coming back early from injuries, instead of the people who constructed or coached the team to its worst position ever, and who apparently can’t even manage to tell prospects what the hell their plans are or what they’re supposed to be working on.

I wonder if Tambo will give another speech next summer about how things are going to change around here, Goddammit, and bang his shoe on the podium, and then fire the Zamboni driver and the Northlands Coliseum janitors. That’ll be fun.

Update: I’ve just been informed by Oilers general manager Steve Tambellini that my services will no longer be required as intermittent updater of this here blog. He thanked me for my years of service, and told me that while this was a move that had to be made for the future of the franchise, in his heart, I’ll be an Oilers fan forever.
