The scene: I’m at the Hitmen game yesterday, and two kids, maybe seven years old, are looking at the back of their Miikka Kiprusoff statue thing to see what other players are available.  They see that Shane Doan is available as both a Coyote and a Jet.  Recorded verbatim:

Kid #1: It’s the same guy, but he’s with a different team.
Kid #2: Who’s “Winnipeg Jets?”
Kid #1: I don’t know who Winnipeg Jets are.

Sadder still: the realization that the idols of my childhood were nearly all retired before these kids were even born.
