Hitmen Game Eve

I've been neglecting this a wee bit, haven't I?

1998 CF 2005 CSF 2007 CSF 2009 CF
4-1 4-3 4-2 4-0

2 3 6 4 6 4
4 2 3 3 1 1

So yeah. I didn’t actually post anything on the conference final this time around, partially due to illness, and partially due to finals. My bad. I’ll make up for it a little here before looking at the stats and figures for the Ed Chynoweth Cup Final (silent “E” in Chynoweth, apparently) between Calgary and Tri-City.

Hitmen Game Day

Routine: Broken. Mind: Broken. Soul: Broken.

5 4 2
2 0 0

Been fighting with Engineering homework all day. Losing horribly. Had no time for a game review on Sunday. The ColesNotes version: Shattock good, Jones good, Nyren awesome (hopping on one foot to clear the puck after blocking it is both badass and assumed in the playoffs), chances were a million to one for the Hitmen in the second, PK finally did its fucking job. Boom.

I wouldn’t normally post on a road day except a) I missed the game review and b) my old buddy Nick will be in attendance wearing a Hitmen Playoff Train T-shirt in hostile territory. That’s a good enough reason to win it for me. It’s also as good an excuse as I’ll ever find to post “Eye of the Tiger.” And that’s good enough, too.

I've been busy…

…but I’ve found time to link an article I read for school to the recent run of cheap shots in the NHL, and ponder the effect of fans and the media on the NHL’s relative inaction.

In other news, Hitmen start their playoffs against the Moose Jaw Warriors tomorrow night. Prediction: Hitmen are awesome. That is all.

No, I actually don't write anymore…

Look, folks.  Let’s face facts.  The Oilers fucking suck this year.  I tried to hold out optimism as long as possible, but after seeing them drop seven of eight and fall into the Western basement, and looking at the amount of other shit I could be doing instead — Hitmen season tickets, podcasts, magazine subscriptions, TV shows, video games — to say nothing of work and school, it became pretty easy to let this one slide.  But since I’ve been watching the World Juniors, anyway, I figured I might as well keep tabs on the Oilers prospects in the tournament: Jordan Eberle (CAN), Magnus Paajarvi-Svensson and Anton Lander (SWE), and Teemu Hartikainen and Toni Rajala (FIN).  I’ve been posting daily(ish) updates on C&B, listed below.  Enjoy.
